Where Are We Now?
Exactly how telecommunications will enhance the practice of medicine in general and
pathology specifically is still unpredictable. To be prepared for such a future, each of
us needs to know some fundamentals of telecommunications technology and to consider where
critical barriers to communication exist in our practice today. Pathology, a highly visual
specialty, has practical applications relative to image-based telecommunications.
